]]> <![CDATA[ICP Says Proof Ended Eminem Beef]]> Eminem and Jay-Z shows in Detroit starting tonight, there was a time that local beefs could have been on minds of security, but not anymore says the Insane Clown Posse (ICP). "The beef we had with him was 11 years ago," Shaggy 2 Dope explained. "That's like beefing with somebody in high school and going to your 20th high school reunion, and you still have heat with that kid?"

      Credit goes to the late member of D12, Proof they say. "Proof squashed that beef before he passed away," Violent J said. "He contacted us and we had a bowling game — it was really cool. We're something different. They could have skipped over us and said forget them, but they included us and said let's squash it."

      In fact, ICP are fans of Eminem's later work. "Some people call it horrorcore, we call it the wicked sh--, but it was cool to see him dabbling with that again on the first Relapse record, with '3 A.M.' and stuff like that," Violent J added.

]]> <![CDATA[DJ Khaled Wants Eminem Collab]]> Def Jam South, DJ Khaled is publically calling out Eminem in hopes of getting him on a song. Khaled says that is unable to get ahold of Eminem and have a face-to-face sit down.

      "The collaboration I want to make happen and the people want to make happen is a DJ Khaled/Eminem collaboration," Khaled said in an interview. "I know if I get with Eminem and put him on one of my anthems ... 'cause I make these anthems. I got something so special in my drive that for Eminem on there...We're doing it for hip-hop. We doing this for hip-hop. I'm a big fan of his. I don't have a way to contact him. I don't know how I can sit down and play him some music; whatever I gotta do. Eminem, I got love. According to multiple reports, the Grand Hussle new rapper will be the opening act starting tomorrow night. Eminem tweeted "Just finished rehearsal. They opened up more seats for Detroit shows on sale tomorrow morn 10am! See you there."

]]> <![CDATA["This Eminem & Jay-Z Show Has Been In Progress For A Year"]]> Eminem/Jay-Z Tour: Eastern Michigan University Assistant Director Marcy Szabo talks about producing today's Comerica Park concert]

I've been doing stadium shows for a long time. I was a promoter for 15 years, I've worked for Live Nation and I came here to Eastern University of Michigan to be the Assistant Director of the Convocation Center. Over at Live Nation, I was a promoter, so I still freelance in the summer for the bigger shows. When they have stadium shows such as Jay-Z and Eminem, I go and work.

Last year I went and did the same thing with Kid Rock. I was supposed to do the U2 show which got cancelled because Bono hurt his back. So I take vacation here and I go work there because that's what I do. At Comerica Park, we're doing this show for 40,000 people and you can tell because it takes a week to load-in for this show. A typical show load-in is usually the morning of at Eastern Michigan's Convocation Center and for this, I'm loading up a week before. We've got to build, get steel; there's a lot more that goes into a stadium show. I have folders upon folders of people that are working. I can't even guess how many are involved.

For a show like this, it starts way in advance but things change, things change, things change and people change so planning is in advance and last minute. For this event, I had nothing to do with booking Jay-Z and Eminem at Comerica Park.

This entire event is very exciting. How many people get the opportunity to come down to Comerica Park and say they were part of a team that produced Jay-Z and Eminem? But on the same flip side, I am so excited and for me, it's twofold. I'm going back to work with my team that I've worked with for a number of years and that I don't get to see everyday anymore. So there's people and relationships that I can't wait to see. I can't wait to see Liz in catering, I can't wait to see my boss Gary and my girl Julie, all these people that I knew for so long and got to see everyday that I don't get to see everyday anymore. So, for me, that's exciting.

And the work is exciting but it is very, very stressful. And no matter what job you do, a show on this level, doing these kinds of shows, you hit the ground running. From Friday, when we start taking orders, setting all the rooms up all the way until that show happens and then loads out. Once the show happens, there's this essential calm that let's you know there's still work to do and a couple days that we'll still be there, after the show happens. This Eminem and Jay-Z show has been in progress for a year. The planning and the pre-planning and the meetings and so, the average concert goer buys their ticket but there are so many people and work needed to pull this stuff off so that everyone can have a good time.

]]> <![CDATA[Eminem Gets Knocked From The Top, Drake Hits A Milli, Fantasia & Usher Make Strong Debuts]]> Eminem falls from the top of the charts, Fantasia and Usher debut prominently within the Top 5 and Drake hits the million albums sold mark.

Leading the way this week is Fantasia's Back To Me which debuted at No. 2 behind Katy Perry's Teenage Dream which sold 192,100 records. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the singer's new album has sold 117,100 units after seven days in stores.

Eminem's Recovery fell two steps to No. 3 with 98,500. After 10 weeks on the charts, the rapper's new album has sold 2,327,800 records.

R&B singer Usher's Versus debuted at No. 4 this week. With one week under his belt, the singer's EP managed to snag 45,900 sold copies in total.

Soulful singer Kem's Intimacy dropped four slots to No. 6 with 30,400. Headed into his third week, the crooner's new LP rests at 104,700 sold records.

Miami rapper Rick Ross' Teflon Don fell six slots to No. 17 with 20,600. With six weeks to his name, the Def Jam juggernaut's latest release has sold 352,600 copies.

Young Money artist Drake's Thank Me Later also moved down six slots to No. 18 with 20,200. After 11 weeks in stores, the rapper's long-awaited debut has reached platinum status with 1,013,700 sold copies to date.

R&B singer Usher re-appears in the charts with Raymond V Raymond which received a 12-position boost to No. 19 with 19,700. After 22 weeks on the chart, Usher's new album has sold 1,037,300 records.

Music newcomer Ke$ha's Animal took a five-spot drop to No. 28 with 14,700. After 34 weeks, the singer's new album has sold 914,500 records.

Award-winning group Black Eyed Peas' E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) slipped five spots to No. 34 with 10,300. With 64 weeks in the books, the group's 2009 album has sold 2,756,700 units.

Grand Hustle rapper B.o.B.'s Adventures of Bobby Ray also slid five slots to No. 39 with 9,900. After 18 weeks, the Southern emcee's new record currently stands at 377,300 sold pieces.

Evening things out in Top 50 is Big Boi's Sir Lucious Left Foot which moved up three slots to No. 49 with 8,700.

Grammy-winning rappers Eminem and Jay-Z have reportedly enlisted Southern rapper B.o.B. to to help kick-off their Detroit concerts this week.

According to reports, the Grand Hustle newcomer will be the opening act starting tomorrow night.

    Atlanta rapper B.o.B has been tapped as the opening act for the highly-anticipated concerts at Comerica Park, the home of the Detroit Tigers. The gig featuring two big rappers Eminem and Jay-Z is going to be held for two days, September 2 and 3. The Slim Shady is gearing up to visit his hometown, already doing some rehearsals. The "Recovery" MC wrote on his rarely-updated Twitter page, "Just finished rehearsal. They opened up more seats for Detroit shows on sale tomorrow morn 10am! See you there." (Peace FM News)

Yesterday, long-time Eminem associate Royce Da 5'9 told he would be in town for at least one of the Detroit shows.

    "I wouldn't miss that [Detroit] show for the world!," Royce informed SOHH via a Twitter statement. "The two greatest rappers of our time. (Arguably)." (SOHH)

According to recent reports, their concerts, which kick-off later this week, were strategically scheduled.

    First on the list: nailing down a window that fit the baseball schedule, while accommodating the show's unique needs as a one-off event rather than a full-length tour. "The production is very, very complicated, a lot of moving parts, because it's only the four shows," says production director Dan Parise. Work began several weeks before the May announcement. World-renowned lighting and scene designers were enlisted, and at Live Nation's New York office, specialists dove into 15-hour days, crafting stage renderings and configuring logistics. During his shows, Eminem will be supported by a live band.

]]> <![CDATA[Eminem gives top prize to Detroiter in amateur MC battle]]> St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit Thursday night, as eight amateur MCs competed in freestyle rap battles at the finals of the Red Bull EmSee: The Road to 8 Mile competition.

Eminem, the Em of the event's title, was on hand to judge the rappers, who composed dizzying rhymes off the top of their heads while the sold-out audience clapped -- or booed -- them on.

Em raised his fist to the crowd when he was introduced and kept his comments during the evening brief. Other hip-hop notables at the event included Bun B, Xzibit, DJ Jazzy Jeff and members of Eminem's D12 crew. Detroit artists Trick Trick, Black Milk, Elzhi, King Gordy and Miz Korona were also on hand, as was country rapper Cowboy Troy, who was in town for business and dropped by as a fan.

The competitors were chosen from a series of semifinal rounds around the country over the last two months. But the evening's winner, Saffal "FowL" Tall, hails from Detroit and was encouraged to join the contest by respected Detroit freestyle battler Marv Won.

"I feel like he did what he was supposed to do," Marv said after FowL's unanimous victory. "I feel like a proud, older brother."

The competition consisted of three rounds. In the first, the MCs came up with a 60-second verse based on a series of random images -- a monster truck, a lunchbox, Robert Pattinson -- projected onto nearby screens. For round 2, they integrated words that popped up on the screens into their rhymes. The third round consisted of two 60-second impromptu a capella verses. Each round's winners were determined by the judging panel of Eminem, Em's D12 sidekick, Denaun Porter, and his DJ, the Alchemist.

FowL won by channeling his intense energy into a series of funny rhymes and hard-hitting insults. During his fist round square-off, the rapper turned away from his opponent and toward to the balcony where Eminem was seated and said, "(Forget) this battle, Eminem, let me get a deal!" The move earned him a thumbs-up from Mr. Mathers.

In the evening's final battle, finalist D.N.A. lost his way when the crowd turned on him when he tried getting them to chant "313." The New Yorker gave up half-way through his minute-long verse.

"I thought he should have kept going," said Detroit rapper Royce da 5'9", who performed at the evening's close with his hip-hop collective Slaughterhouse, which he says is "in the ninth inning" of completing a deal with Eminem's Shady Records. "Detroit is a tough crowd, but he shouldn't have said '313!' like that. Detroit don't go for that."

FowL's victory earns him the opportunity to record with producers at the Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica, Calif.

The competition was filmed and will be edited down, along with footage from the preliminary battles, into an hour-long special. A deal with a network has yet to be finalized, according to a Red Bull spokesperson

Eminem was back in St.Andrews Hall in Detroit last night to judge the final round of Red Bull’s EMsee battle competition. After everything was said and done, Em crowned hometown spitter FowL, the champion.

    “A rap battle in Detroit is no laughing matter and it seems that Fowl took it the most seriously tonight,” said Eminem. “So he goes home the winner.”

Eminem keeps his number one spot on the sales chart for the seventh time in nine weeks as his new "Recovery" album moves past 2.3 million copies sold in the United States alone. The next rapper on the chart is all the way down in 11th (Rick Ross) while Drake is close behind, getting beat by less than two hundred units. Usher drops eleven spots to 30th with another 12,351 copies of his "Raymond vs Raymond" album sold plus B.o.B stays at 32nd with 4% more sales this week, than last.

     Bun B's new "Trill O.G." album drops 17 more spots (down to 37th or -26% compared to last week) while Outkast's own Big Boi stays in the top 50 with a 2% increase in sales.

Q Da Kid is an individual that not only intends to break that mold, but also to show that he was never part of that systematic path to begin with. After the BK native passed through deals with Violator and TAG Records (the latter being under Jermaine Dupri himself), he has now taken his destiny into his own hands with a maelstrom of new music and remixes (with equally powerful visuals to boot), his own label movement, and an upcoming project to feed the culture well into the future...and he has no plans to stop. Q Da Kid: Flatbush, Brooklyn born and raised. Basically I grew [up] in a musical family...my dad was a drummer and my uncles also played in bands. I started rapping around the age of 10 listening to dude like Rakim, [Big Daddy] Kane, Juice Crew...those were the people that influenced me over the years. I landed a group deal with Violator Records, and at the time I didn't really know the business, so we basically got shitted on...but like they say, "you live and you learn".

What happened between you, Gravy and Red Cafe? Can we expect a reunion track from y'all?
Nothing happened, just sometimes people grow apart. The business can do that to you but personally we all cool, we just all got different dreams and roads we wanted to take, that's all it was, but Red [Cafe], that's my dude, we from the same hood, same block, and Gravy I haven't seen in a while, but I'm sure he good. Yeah I would love to do a reunion track with all us, that would be dope...just to be together again like back in the days, just vibing a laughing, making that heat.
